Fibonacci

In Algebra 1, we had many small project but one of my favorite was when we had a Wright State student who was learning to become Music teacher come in to talk to us about Fibonacci number and how they relate to art and of course math. We discovered that in art the Fibonacci number in number make boxes that go smaller in size in a spiral that is pleasing to the human eyes. After we discovered that, we used our birthdays to create a Fibonacci type of sequence. The actual Fibonacci sequence is actually 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 etc. To get the Fibonacci sequence you add the two previous number (3, 5) to get the next number (3+5=8). In my case my birthday is March 19th so my numbers started with 3, and 19.  My sequence in all was 3, 19, 22, 41, 63, 104. From my birthday sequence we used the number to make boxes that were orientated in Fibonacci style. From this we added another set of Fibonacci boxes to make a piece of art all our own. I feel like this project showed creativity because it show that we were thinking outside the box (literally and mentally) to make a piece of Fibonacci Art that was all our own. Also, it was a creative way to show your math skills in Fibonacci in a way that we could understand without spending days working on trying to understand.
