It's Raining Ink
In this project we as a group of four had to emulate an Artist that uses ink spots and different types of media for her art. The goals of this project was to understand composition of art, the different types of media (paint, collaged items, markers etc.) and the principles of art (color, line, shape, form, texture). This project started with making "ink spots" on the paper. My group wanted to put meaning into the ink and not just make it a splatter paint type of ink spot. With this in mind we tried many different techniques of "moving" the ink by lifting the paper in different ways while putting the ink on the paper. The one we as a group decided on was the spot that looked like a rain cloud with the main ink spot at the top and the ink "rolling down the paper" in a vertical fashion. Then we sketched piece that we could put on the paper. After sketching the items, we decided the one we used and "put it all together". The struggles we had in my group was that as we cut out pieces before we glued them on, we all had a picture in our mind that didn't jive with the other members of the group. We ending up after a day of debating what the colors and shapes should be on the piece we collaborated and persisted through it too make this piece that we all are proud of. I feel like this piece shows that we as a group used persistence in the group spent a very long time trying to work together to finally decide what we would use and how we would use it. As well, we had to use collaboration to in the fact that my group had issues at first collaborating but at the end we finally came to a compromise and decide what to use to put into the final draft of the piece we created.
